Work in AUS
Teresa has just completed 2+ months at an endurance riding centre in the sunshine coast.
This has finished slightly earlier than planned, because her replacements (due in 3 weeks time) are coming slightly sooner. She has worked well there as an all round stable hand and rider, and has a positive report / will have a positive reference.
Duties included
-feeding horses
-take care of them
- riding them
-attending competitions
-work with unbroken horses
-help the farrier
Back Home
Teresa is from central Germany. She lives in the countryside and loves country life.
She spends a lot of time with friends who have farms, mostly dairy, this gives a lot of opportunities to drive tractors and assist in all sorts of other ways.
She has qualified for university and plans to study social justice.
Work history includes volunteering at local stables during holidays and weekends for the last five years.
This has included some care of cows, pigs and use of tractors.
She loves the farm environment, particularly dairy cattle.
She has also worked in an ice cream café, a supermarket and Italian restaurant for the five years.
Aims and Motivation
Open for any role her aim is learning. Especially keen to develop her riding, but also to learn about handling and training horses. Keen to work with racehorses, seeking to gain second Visa.
Equine Skills / experience
Considers herself an intermediate to Advanced horse rider. Can ride comfortably at all speeds, is comfortable catching handling horses from the ground and has a significant amount of stable work and time spent around horses.
She has been part of a horse share since age 13, enjoys hunting, and has ridden horses of many types and sizes.
She is very interested to learn about trackwork and other all round riding skills.
Has been riding since age 10, and working/volunteering at a holiday camp / riding stables from age 13 until now. Her duties include
My main work was to care about the horses. 40-80 depending on the season,
-tack horses
-feed them
-give beginner lessons
-accompany rides
-clean stables
-feed all horses
-look for their safety
-take care of mares and their foals
-test new horses
and of course I had to look after the children
-explain them everything about horses
-teach them how to handle them
-check their rooms
-look if everybody is healthy and happy
-give them medication if needed
-give them their perfect horse
-be their if they need something or have questions
Additionally neighbour keeps hunting horses, so she has had opportunities to ride and exercised his horses, and to practice jumping.
She also did a two week internship on a farm, which she loved, which included some use of harvest machinery.
She also completed a work experience internship as a forester, which she also enjoyed very much.
Alongside her studies she has worked part-time in a grocery store.
DRIVING
Full driving licence for two years. A confident driver.
Also has two years commuting to school on 125cc automatic bike.
Practical skills
No special practical skills apart from general day to day fix and mend tasks around the stables.
Cook / Childcare
Able to cook for herself, can follow a recipe and keep herself alive.
Used to working with children the riding holidays job, some experience of babysitting for local families, and also caring for her younger sibling.
Personal
Her main hobby is horseriding; she loves to ride,
Loves to be outside, riding different horses and is really keen to learn more about training and developing horses in any setting.
Very good English, social, friendly, organised. Loves country life and livestock tasks. Enjoys being part of a team
