GENERAL INFO

The Union is a Dairy farm, a large scale operator, part of a large family owned Agricultural conglomerate, Midfield Meats which provides high quality beef, lamb and milk in a well respected paddock to plate operation.
The farm dairy runs 1800 cows on 1200 acres, a 66 unit rotary dairy (new in 2021), year round calving in a large calving shed.
Milking, droving and animal welfare are the main duties.
Darren runs a large milking operation across several farms milking 4,500 cows.
A professionally run and busy workplace with great potential for good workers.
Typical duties
Duties could be any aspect of work, dairy work, milking, calf rearing or general farm work.
Milking, calving, cleaning, moving cattle around the property,
The Team:
There is a team of 10-20 workers at any time.
Living
Single room in the self catering farmworkers quarters, 5-10 minutes drive, 30 minutes walk from the farm. Also in Woolsthorpe. Normally shopping for groceries is in Warrnambool.
Approx. $130 per week is deducted from salary for the accommodation.
Travel
Train to Warrnambool, Victoria.
Farm is 15 minutes from town, and the beach is 10 minutes from the farm.
Public transport from the farm to town takes 15r minutes approx.
Liaise with Darren for collection from the train station at Warrnambool or make your way to the Midfield Meats offices in Warrnambool.
If arriving by car please first make your way to The Union (Midfield Meats) to check in, or make your way to the staff accommodation if you have been given the address.
Working conditions and Pay
Pay is at casual pastoral award rates.
Normally the first week is a trial period in which a positive attitude, quick learning and good quality fast work and high effort is expected for the role to be continued.
For good and willing workers there is normally lots of opportunity for more hours, and in due course, roles with more responsibility as appropriate.
Please note that blood tests and vaccinations may be required to work in parts of the business.
The costs of these ($80) is deducted from wages.
