GENERAL INFO
(please note that this is general information and may not be specific to your role)
My husband and I own a well-established stud that has had success in producing horses competing in dressage, eventing, show jumping, endurance racing and because of their temperaments all are pleasure horses.
Our property is over 100 ha of former dairy country on pleasant scenic hills about 70 km, one hour, from Sydney and between the towns of Picton and Camden.
We can guarantee a top-quality environment with excellent 60 x 20 meter indoor arena, outdoor show jumping and dressage arenas, 1600 meter canter track, bridle trails and conditioning hill canters.
At present we have eight seven-year-olds, six six year olds in various stages under saddle, the more advanced out competing. Another eight five-year-olds have been started under saddle. We also have three older horses currently competing.
The job applicant should be competent and experienced in schooling and competing young horses, dressage and show jumping, with cross country experience an advantage but not essential.
We usually have two to three full time, that is Monday to Friday employees who must be capable of riding the youngsters and schooling and competing the older horses.
The work is nominally from 8am to 5pm with one hour for lunch.
General duties, feeding, rugging, picking up, paddock checks etc usually takes to 9 - 9.30 then start handling and riding.
In the afternoon usually start feed up 4- 4.30.
This routine varies when the farrier comes, there is drenching to be done, injuries to be treated, or we call in a vet or horse dentist etc.
On weekends we have a casual employee to do the morning feed ups and do other chores such as arena grooming, chaffing, picking up yards etc. working from eight to eleven.
As the afternoon feed up normally takes less than an hour, girls living in the cottage cover this time. We also expect girls living in the cottage to cover any week end or after hours medications required.
The accommodation is in a shared cottage, girls only, on the farm and there is use of a vehicle, by arrangement.
Non smokers & under 70kg
