We are the most northern broadacre farming in Qld running over 15,000 head of cattle over 4 properties. Olive Vale is on the Laura River, 200km northwest of Cairns North Queensland and 90km west of Cooktown with mains power and sealed (bitumen) road access to all southern markets and Abattoirs. Olive Vale covers approximately 136,000 hectares .With major improvements to waters and fencing carrying capacity is estimated at 25,000 head with plans to increase to 40,000.
Low key tourism operations also: (farm stay accommodation, camping) is also available at Fairview and at Jackass out station.
Operations include horse work, machinery operation, cattle work, mustering with horses and vehicles, and a wide range of maintenance and general farm work duties. Thee are also some tourism opportunities, hunting tours, fishing etc.
Typical duties
TBC depending on skills and abilities and seasonal requirements.
Covers all aspects of station work and machinery operation for dryland cropping.
The Team
The Team is run by brothers Paul and Scott Ryan. Staff numbers vary depending on seasonal requirements but are typically approx. 10 people.
Accommmodation
Meals and accommodation provided.
Staff accommodation, single room with AC, wifi, Telstra signal.
Very high standard of facilities and accommodation.
Travel
Our location at Fairview homestead at Laura is 320km Northwest of Cairns NQ
all sealed road with a bus service to Lakeland ,we are frequently travelling to Cairns so could also pick up from the airport. Travel is to Cairns, with bus to Laura or collection in Cairns.
