GENERAL INFO
Cattle Station/Tourist Park
We (Cameron & Michelle MacLean) own Merluna and run cattle but also have a Tourist Park. The main business of employment is the Tourist Park. We have 27 Rooms & Cabins plus a Campground and can get quite busy during the season with Road worker crews staying and also tourists in the Camp ground. We are situated about an hour & a half's drive from Weipa on Cape York. It is a very nice environment to work and live. we are remote and you don't get to go to town but there are people around all the time.
Special requirements at particular times of the year:
The season is usually from May until December. Just 3 main requirements in a prospective employee must be a Non Smoker with no excessive Tattoo's or piercings.
(By excessive I mean 4 or more visual tattoos and more than ears pierced.)
Current or previous role info:
April 2023 ROLE
1 or 2 people required to work in a contract mustering camp. Must be a good horse rider and be prepared to camp out with limited or no phone service. Ideally provide your own swag/tent.
Living and Travel
Accommodation and meals are all included in the job. We have internet & Landline phones however no mobile coverage. We have a passenger/mail plane every Tuesday that flies in and out of Cairns otherwise Qantaslink flies into Weipa a couple of times a day. Usually only employ one person to help me (Michelle).
You have your own room with a shared shower & toilet.
Pay Information
Award wages - can increase depending on skills and experience. Deductions for food and accommodation, and of course for tax. Paid at a day rate.
