Tremere Pastoral runs a Stud / Commercial breeding herds in Central QLD, 14km from Moura. We are seeking a motivated and reliable Backpacker / Station Hand to assist with the day-to-day operations of a 5,976ha cattle property running approximately 2,800 head. Working under the direction of the Property Manager, this is a hands-on role supporting livestock operations, land management, and general station duties. This position is suitable for those looking to gain practical experience in the Australian cattle industry.
Typical duties
Key Responsibilities
Livestock Handling
Assist with mustering cattle using quad / 2W Motor bikes
Support yard work including drafting, weighing, tagging, and processing cattle.
Catch, tag, and weigh stud calves.
Assist with feeding sale bulls and monitoring their condition & health.
Property & Land Management
Undertake weed spraying and assist with noxious weed control programs.
Assist with regrowth control and property improvement activities.
Support fencing repairs and general infrastructure maintenance.
General Station Duties
Maintain clean, tidy, and organised work areas, yards, sheds, and equipment.
General Servicing of Motorbikes & vehicles
Carry out general labouring tasks as directed.
Assist with day-to-day property upkeep and operational needs.
Accommodation
3 bedroom house, living room, sun room, Kitchen, 1 Bathroom with separate loo. Very private – away from Manager’s house on our adjoining property. It would be a shared arrangement if we have another backpacker there at the same time.
They will have a work vehicle to use to get from the house to the workshop which is approx. 5km on our internal private road plus , prior arrangement they can use the company vehicle for trip to the local township. Moura has an IGA supermarket, butcher etc.
Travel
To get to the property they could fly/ bus to Rockhampton and my brother (Swin) or his wife (Kathy) will pick him / her up.
