Crops and sheep Farley Pastoral is a family owned and operated business by David and Michele Farley, currently operating 7500 acres of productive, high rainfall land. On this land approximately 2,500 acres is cropped for Grain and hay production as well as 18,500 Maternal Primeline ewes for prime Lamb production are also run. Farley Pastoral enterprise is a closed stock self-replacing system with a key focus on high quality stock selection and genetic gains to achieve high flock performance with high eating quality measurable meat standards. This is giving Farley Pastoral a significant advantage in marketing the lamb produced along with being antibiotic and hormone free.
Family Owned and operated business, currently operating 2200 ha of land of which approximately 600 ha is cropped and 12,000 maternal composite ewes for prime Lamb production are also run. The business produces 12,500 prime lambs per year and has an established feed lot finishing system. We adopt modern farming practices and utilize up to date machinery, particularly sheep handling, to effectively work the large volume of stock, including an auto weigh and drafting machine, sheep lift up bulk handler and an Automated Electro dip. We have predominantly improved pastures and a strong agronomy focus to maximize our cropping output. - Organizational Structure The business is owned under a family structure, with the partners including David and his parents Roger and Jan. The property is managed in all aspects by David Farley.

• Install and/or repairing fences.
• Maintain vehicles, improvements and equipment to a high standard. • Report any required maintenance to owner or livestock manager. Workplace Health and Safety

• Help to maintain a positive workplace culture The spread of normal hours is Monday to Friday 8am to 5:30pm. o During seeding, cropping staff will be expected to work varied hours. Typically, the air seeder will be driven in two shifts per day and staff will work six days a week which will include weekends. o During peak work periods of the year the successful applicant would be expected to work some extended or varying hours.
▪ Some Saturday and Sunday work will be for duties such as preparing stock for sale, flushing stock etc. In the interest or work/life balance and a healthy family life, flexible work hours can be negotiated. Accommodation
is available in a two bedroom fully furnished and fully equipped residence in Naracoorte on a sole occupancy basis ie you are not expected to share the residence. The house is included and reflected in the hourly rate offered. Please note all services including electricity and water are included. - Work vehicle and fuel supplied. Ideally the employee is to provide their own transport to and from work or if they don’t have a vehicle a work ute could be used for transportation to and from work and some limited private use locally. Applicant must supply own phone connected to an appropriate plan. Reimbursement is made to cover work related calls through part payment of existing plan approximately $30 per month to cover work related expenses.

The Kybybolite area is situated 15-20 km’s east of Naracoorte and has a successful sporting culture with two senior and junior football teams along with 8 netball teams. o Naracoorte is a large regional township with a population of 6,000 which is a major service Centre for the surrounding townships and is a major rural hub for the rural businesses in the area. It has a large cattle abattoir and South Australia’s largest stock exchange. o Naracoorte is located 330kms south east of Adelaide and 445kms west of Melbourne. Mount Gambier, a large regional city in excess of 25,000, is 100kms south of Naracoorte. Our properties are located on McGowans and Jessie Road’s, Kybybolite as well as our lease property on the Wimmera Highway, Hynam. The land is either adjoining or is all located within close proximity. Our farm is situated 16 - 20 km’s east of Naracoorte, South Australia, a large regional township with a population of 6,000 people. Job Purpose
This role will require you to operate cropping equipment used throughout harvest period including carting grain, using augers, filling silos, carting and stacking hay.
You will also be required to undertake tasks in the livestock enterprise including moving, weighing, vaccinating, drafting, grain and hay feeding and work in the lamb finishing operation.
Working as part of a team with owners and other staff will also be required when working in both cropping and livestock enterprises.
A high level of personal standards is greatly valued – good temperament, honest, motivated, reliable, good communication skills and a strong work ethic.
This position will commence as soon as possible, ideally early November and has been created to work with our peak workload. There is the opportunity to extend this position beyond this date for a suitable skilled applicant.

This is delivering premiums for Farley Pastoral in the premium local and US export markets for large grain fed, high IMF, fully traceable Lamb. The business produces 24,000 prime lambs annually. An established lamb feedlot finishing system is used that assists in producing a consistency of livestock. This finishing system is fully automated, with significant capital investment occurring in 2022.
Farley Pastoral adopt modern farming practices including rotational grazing and utilise up to date sheep handling equipment to effectively work the large volume of stock. This equipment includes new covered sheep yards with multiple auto weigh/drafting machines, multiple automatic crutching handlers, multiple sheep lift up bulk handlers, dual lead up race and an automated Electro dip across a number of yards on the property.
The livestock enterprise is heavily supported by the cropping enterprise to produce most of the hay and grain that is required. Farley Pastoral adopt no till farming practices using well maintained modern equipment. This includes 3 new tractors purchased in the 20/21 seasons and modern harvesting and hay equipment.
