Dairy farm
Our family dairy farm milks approx. 800 cows through a modern 60 unit rotary. We have 280 Ha of fixed centre pivots and rear all our own young stock on farm. We provide an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to develop there skills in all aspects of dairy production from pasture management to animal health, rearing young stock etc. The farm is located in the picturesque Derwent valley, 1hrs drive from Hobart.
Role or typical vacancy:
All employee are expected to learn to milk and do 9 or 10 milkings per fortnight. This will take approx. half of your hours and the remainder will be spent doing other jobs around the farm. You will get 1 day off during the week and get every 2nd weekend off.

Living and Travel
We have a 3 brm fully furnished weatherboard cottage on farm within walking distance to the dairy. It has a pay as you go electricity meter and we charge $50/week rent. New Norfolk is the closest town to us (20mins drive) and it has a big woollies, post office, cafes, pubs service stations etc. there is good phone signal across most of the farm. The dairy has NBN internet which can be used free of charge. Busses go past the front gate to take you to New Norfolk or Hobart.
Pay Information
We use the federal pastoral award for employing staff. Most people start as a FLH1 ( Casual pay rate $22.86/Hr) unless they have more than 3 yrs experience, which means you would be classed as a FLH3.
