Horses
Peter Carcary is the principal of a large agricultural dealership in Ayr, Qld, approx 450km South of Cairns. He is also a high level showjumper, travelling all over Australia to compete at national / international level, (often representing Australia) and his wife is a dressage competitor. The family have their own property with a number of horses.
We are on 8 acres, 5 min from the town of Ayr (pop 10,000). We are involved in performance horses in dressage & show jumping, with dressage & show jumping arenas, paddocks and day yards for 4-5 performance horses. Regular travel to horse shows between Cairns & Sydney.
We have a beautiful property in Queensland in Ayr one hour from Townsville
Duties include stable management of 4 horses 3 show jumpers and one dressage pony !
Working in stables and riding if experienced
- Performance dressage, jumping and show horse, must be confident around big horses. Stay for a minimum of 3 months work
Typical duties
Groom / stable hand work and general assistant when travelling. High standard horses needing good care and attention, a competent rider to exercise them / warm up etc before handing them to Peter for the competition / training / schooling etc.
Feeding horses cleaning g out 4 stables that are all rubber floors so easy !
Filling up hay and waters putting horse on the horse walker in the mornings
Putting out in the paddocks in the mornings
Afternoon tacking up if Peter or Janie are riding preparing feeds picking up in the day yards etc
The Team:
Groom/Rider/stable hand
stable duties, exercising and preparing for competitions in showjumping and dressage
Can sign off 2nd year visa
Living
- Own room in house with owner. All food and use of a car plus petrol. All expenses, Free wifi, inground pool. 4 minutes to town.
When travelling, with the horses accommodation is a very well appointed trailer with all conveniences.
Travel
- Bus or Plane to Townsville than one hour to Ayr nth Queensland. When travelling to competitions (all over S and central E coast) are based on a property near Ipswish (close to Toowoomba)
