Cattle, sheep and goats -500km from Broken Hill. 250,000 acres.
Typical duties
'Greg has around 6000 sheep, nearly a 1000 cattle and also a lot of goats. The main job is to drive around the station to check all the water troughs, maintaining the station, repairing machinery, heavy lifting (like panels or engines), watering the plants, feeding the animals and helping when it comes to mustering the animals.
Usually Greg only employs one to two person and I would recommend anybody who wants to work there to have some previous experience in station/farm work and to bring his/her own car.
Completing water runs, mustering on bikes plus a helicopter up above.
Travel
Borrona Downs Station is a cattle station near White Cliffs in far western New South Wales, Australia.
It is about halfway between Milparinka, around 100 km to the West, and Wanaaring, around 100 km to the East, as the crow flies.
Travel to the Station is to Broken Hill, a 500km trip from there to the station.
Bus from Sydney to Dubbo, then to Broken Hill
Working conditions and Pay
The salary is 1000 $ per week and food and accomodation is included.
It is usual to work over 13 hours a day without having any breaks.
