Occupational Trainee Program

The Occupational Trainee Program offers young people form overseas the chance to take part in occupational training in Australian Agriculture. 
The key features and benefits are: 
  • You will have motivated workers who are building a career in Agriculture.
  • Your workers will be intent on gaining skills and experience in Australia
  • Workers available for to work for you for up to 12 months
  • They will require payment at award / trainee rates
  • They will need to be provided with a structured 'on the job' training program that gives experience of all appropriate aspects of the role and business for 30 hours per week, (this may optionally be supplemented by external courses / certifications)

What we do 
  • We are the sponsor of the trainee
  • Find a trainee looking for training in your industry
  • Process the visa, assess training needs
  • Agree a work and training plan with you
What you do 
  • You are the Employer / trainer of the trainee
  • You provide a contract for work based training for 6/9/12 months 
  • Pay the trainee at award / trainee rates of pay

What to do now ? 
If you are keen to take advantage of this the first step is for us to gather general information about your business / property, and some  information about the people who are likely to be conducting or overseeing the work based training. 
The next step will be to speak to you in more detail about how the program will work.

    Section 1. Information about the business

    For example, cattle, dairy, goats, crops, contracting (please include all)
    Please include acreage, no of people working on the property, main activities that the trainee would be involved with (eg milking, ploughing, seeding, spraying, fencing etc)

    Section 2. Information about you and the other people who may conduct the training

    The main things only; please include any agricultural education, number of years experience in the business and the most important of any memberships or certificates held. This need not extend to more than 10 lines in total at this stage.


    Member of training staff No 2 (optional to include this person - could be a farm manager for example)
