Large Machinery operator - worked for a groundwork company driving tractors, rollers and occasionally excavators, carrying out a range of jobs including site clearance, drainage, and site preparations.
(Home farm) purchasing store beef cattle to rear over winter and finish from grass, mostly native and dairy-bred beef bullocks.
AYR calving 150 pedigree British Friesian herd (GFW) milking (GEA 12/12), calf rearing, animal husbandry, feeding, tractor work, farm maintenance.
NZ style spring block 550 cows through 50/100 parlour. Worked on during calving and milking.
Worked for Cargill (Animal Nutrition), supporting the commercial and technical teams by visiting farms, shows, and conferences to offer advice and product support on rumen buffers, calf milk replacers, and animal health products. He also supported the Pig Trials team with care and feeding of pigs from weaners to finishers.
Volunteered by coaching the local rugby side for 2 years (2 hours per week) to complete his Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
Aims and Motivations here in Australia
He hopes to expand his knowledge of cattle and learn different management practices, particularly focusing on livestock nutrition, in preparation for a role in the livestock feeding sector.

Store beef cattle, AYR calving 150 pedigree British Friesian herd (GFW) milking, spring block 550 cows through 50/100 parlour. Worked during calving and milking. Cargill (Animal Nutrition), supporting the commercial and technical teams. Also supported the Pig Trials team with care and feeding of pigs from weaners to finishers.
Equine / equestrian
He has limited equine experience but is able to lead horses, turn out, manage feeding and bedding. He has very limited riding, treating, and tack setup experience (saddle, girth, etc).
Practical skills / trade skills
He is able to repair and install basic fixtures, with experience fitting water troughs and pipes, and erecting sheds. He can use drills, saws, chainsaws, jigsaws, and grinders.
