Sophie is 18 from Kent in the UK.
She completed High School in 2024 and has a diploma level qualification in animal care.
Completed a 1 week introduction to Veterinary medicine in 2024 and has future plans to study Veterinary Science at University.
Employment History
Her farm work history includes farm Work caring for animals incl. Pigs, Sheep, Horses, Cows, Rabbits and, Chickens.
Also worked with children to teach them about animals.
Was also a food services assistant at a school.
2023 – age 16 – 17 - Farm Hand - working at an animal farm caring for animals including sheep, horses, goats, pigs, rabbits, chickens, pigs, ducks. Feeding, cleaning, handling the animals and assisting the tourists and young children to interact with the animals. ( April – August - 5 months, 8 hours per day)
2024 – age 17 – 18 – Food Service Assistant – working at a private school in a food servery role in a café, serving food, cleaning the kitchen, and any other general duties required. Also waitressing at some school functions.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCES
Farm / Livestock
Whilst at her school she worked on the school farm two hours a day, marking out cattle and sheep pens, handling these animals as required, leading animals with halters and lead ropes. When required could catch sheep & pigs for ear tagging. Also worked as a farmhand on an animal farm for tourists in the holidays over two years. Has a BTEC qualification in Animal Care.
Equine / equestrian
Novice horse rider, is keen to gain experience riding horses whilst in Australia
Has experience mucking out stables and grooming horses.
Driving & vehicles
Has been driving for 1.5 years and held a manual licence for 7 months. Confident driver.
Practical skills / trade skills
Has a BTEC qualification in Animal Care, where she learnt how to properly house and handle a variety of animals such as, cows, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs, bearded dragons, chickens and pet rats.
Has some basic practical skills helping to mow the lawn, some gardening and general home maintenance. Has assembled prefab furniture.
Domestic, cook and childcare etc
Is comfortable cooking the basics for herself and others.
Has worked with children in a petting zoo in her previous job as well as serving children meals as part of a school Lunch program.
