Rowan is 24 from the Netherlands
He completed Agricultural High School in 2017 and had been working on the farm whilst at school. Shortly after finishing school he moved to full time work in agriculture.
He plans to gain as much experience as possible in a wide range of agriculture areas whilst in Australia.
If possible may choose to stay in Australia long-term.
Employment History
He has spent 10 years working on a farm with beef cattle, sheep & mink, with some pasture & cropping.
Has extensive experience in the agriculture industry back home in the Netherlands.
He's been working on a 100 acre farm - tasks included taking care of 800 cattle (Mixed breeds), 120 Sheep, caring for over 10,000 mink. He was responsible for giving animals medication when required.
He also worked in the fields in cropping, driving hay to customers, and carried out various repair work around the farm. ( Full-time – 40-60 hours / week).
Rowan has also carried out basic fieldwork with cultivation, seeding, plant control and the distribution of manure.
Most recently, he worked as a social personal counsellor on a farm. Did basic welding, repair work,
maintenance on machinery. (Full-time – 40-50 hours / week)
SKILLS & EXPERIENCES
Farm / Livestock
Livestock farming & some cultivation farming - extensive experience over 10 years.
Equine / equestrian
Did a small amount of riding from a young age for recreation from around age 12 years. Novice rider.
Has done some basic ground work from a young age in a stable cleaning & feeding horses.
Driving & vehicles
Manual, car licence (6 years). Can drive motorbike, smaller tractors (7 years) and forklift.
Quad bike experience (1 year). Yet to ride a 2wd motorbike.
Practical skills / trade skills
Basic welding and knows basic repair.
Mechanical maintenance of tractors and machinery
Domestic, cook and childcare etc
Confident cooking for self and family.
Often helped care for the children on the farm where he was working.
Hobbies, other skills and interests
Enjoys hard work on the farm as well as target shooting, music, hiking, time in the outdoors.
