Work in Australia
Here in Australia Maren initially worked for 2 weeks on a mixed / dairy operation. This was exactly what she hoped for, so she was able to move to a large cattle station in northern Queensland where she has been for the last 2 1/2 months, with good report and a reference if required.
The rains are just about to arrive there, and with travel and other volunteering arrangements made for the end of February she decided to leave before flooding prevented her from getting away from the station. As a result of leaving slightly earlier than planned she now has to complete two weeks of work somewhere in order to secure her 88 days and second Visa, and so she is looking for any short-term role for two-three weeks and can start on the fifth or sixth of February.
'Main duties at Numil Downs
The first three weeks I was domestic so my main duties was then to cook food, clean the dishes and eating areas, watering the grass and feeding the animals. The next 6 weeks I was Stationhand so then my main duties was to do different station tasks like mustering, fencing etc.'

Maren is 19 and was raised on the west coast of Norway (Stavanger) (she was born in the USA)
Completed High School in 2024 - main subjects sports, maths, science
Plans to join the Norwegian army after working and travelling in Australia.
She is keen to study nature will biology University and ultimately hopes/dreams to become a marine biologist.
Employment History
For the last 4 years she has been a part-time maintenance worker at a summer school for people with mental conditions. 2021/2023/2024 - In summer holidays - worked in a school for people with mental health conditions. Tasks included painting buildings, mowing lawns, driving boats, gardening, caring for aquariums & working with children - Full time. (30-40 hrs /wk)
2024 (Aug/Sept)- Grocery store worker - customer serivce, cashier, stacking shelves - Full time for two months. (40 hrs/ wk)

SKILLS & EXPERIENCES
Farm / Livestock
At home - has experience with smaller animals including chickens, dogs etc & helping to maintain the garden.
Has some experience with caring for horses and some knowledge of sheep farms. Studied agriculture & farming subjects at school and exposure to many farming animals, including cows, sheep, horses, and chickens.
Has extensive outdoor skills and outdoor activity experience in Norway.
Equine / equestrian
Novice horse rider. - Has been able to ride a few times and loved it. Eager to learn more.
Has a small amount of experience assisting a horse farmer with small tasks.
Driving & vehicles
I x year with automatic licence. AUTO LICENCE ONLY
Also has 1000 hours riding a scooter and small amount of experience with a manual motorbike.
Practical skills / trade skills
Has more practical skills than average for a girl of her age. Has helped her dad to fix cars and boats.
Has used most of the basic tools for building and carpentry. Helped build a chicken coop.
Has some mechanical skills relating to bikes and scooters.
Help maintain the garden, and assists with fixing things around the house and boat maintenance.
