Gregor is from Fort William in the West Highlands of Scotland, and has lived and worked in North Wales.
WORK IN AUSTRALIA
Here in Australia he has worked for the last 2 months in South Australia for racehorse trainers, breaking and exercising horses and all stable yard duties.
Groundwork and breaking in on 2yr old thoroughbreds and track work in large paddocks. Cleaning out stalls, feeding horses, holding and catching for farriers. There was a large flock of sheep on the farm so moving them into different paddocks, shearing them, crutching. Leading and saddling horses on race days.
BACK HOME
He left school at 15, and has since been following his passion for work outdoors and with horses. He moved to Wales to work for a landowner of an estate with wild camping, with sheep, cattle and pigs, doing general maintenance for 2 years age 15-17. This included fencing, (post and rail and wire) care of sheep, cows and pigs, tree surgery, and transporting (ATV) and assisting the campers.
BACK HOME: Age 17 (2022) he moved back to Scotland to pick up casual work with racehorses, exercising, dealing with problem horses, and also cattle work. In May 2023 he took an opportunity to travel to Mongolia to volunteer as a horseman with steppe riders with duties assisting with leading and running horseback tourist trips in different parts of Mongolia and Kazakhstan. This included herding large groups of horses on 250km + round trips, breaking horses and living and working with rural Mongolians. He loved it.
RELEVANT SKILLS:
A competent rider, completely enthusiastic about a career with horses. Has broken horses, ridden bareback, taken part in Mongolian Nadaam festivals etc.
A keen outdoorsman, loves hiking, wild camping, and determined to follow a career with horses.
Can drive motorbike and John Deere ATV. RTITB Counterbalance Forklift Truck up to 5000kg.
PERSONALITY ATTRIBUTES AND INTERESTS:
Well mannered, enthusiastic, fit and active. Independent minded and adventurous. Up for anything and everything.. Has basic handyman experience. Hobbies: horses and horse riding. Wild camping, hill walking, and the outdoors and international history. 175cm & 60kg
HOPING FOR:
Is a worker, he is here to work and learn as much as possible about all disciplines and skill sets; stablework, ground work, and riding. Very interested in racehorse work, riding.
