IN BRIEF
We are a small family company based in SE Qld that has been providing farmwork preparation services to working holiday makers since 1991, and we have provided these in a regular stream to a network of around 2,500 employers of all shapes and sizes across most Ag sectors.
There is no cost to be on our mailing list. We are a membership organisation.
We take a small 2 year subscription, ($330 inc GST in 2023) for which you may access as many workers as you need.
We believe passionately in the personal development value of Agricultural work in Australia for young people, the importance of appropriately motivated young workers to the agricultural sector, and the ongoing value of working holiday makers to the tourism and adventure industries in Australia.
We are privileged to have been a part of the evolution of these industries for more than 30 years, and we intend to be here for many more.
WORKERS ARRIVING
We have around 10 weekly new arrivals who come through Brisbane, get their employment admin set up and then spend 5 days of farm work preparation on a small farm close to Brisbane.
They have various skill sets across farm work, trades, retail and hospitality. Generally our candidates are bright, motivated, practical, pre or post Uni.
They have all joined us because they have made a deliberate decision to take the farmwork opportunity before they leave home for AUS.
PREPARATION AND ASSESSMENT
Then farmwork preparation is practical and includes being informed about farm safety, routines, expectations and some chance to be assessed and practice some hard skills such as side by side buggies, quads, small tractors, front end loaders, trailers, utes, fencing, work around horses, cattle, sheep and other livestock, personal management, radio communications etc.
We are mostly focused at giving them the information and awareness to succeed in the first 2 weeks of their role…after that they are normally well enough set and can make themselves useful, and so are allowed to stay in the role.
We receive application information from them, and meet them on arrival here in AUS. Our profiles are then prepared in which we explain the character and personal attributes as a well as the normal CV information. We then see them ‘in action’ on the training farm, so we then have a good idea what they are capable of and also a sense of their potential to learn and be useful and safe.
As they are farm work beginners here in AUS, we coach them to make up for what they lack in skills and experience with a positive attitude.
The profiles that are intended to be honest but positive about their potential to learn. Overall our placement success sits at more than 90%.
PROMOTING YOU
We create a web page to explain any role you are looking to fill. This is only visible to you, us, and potential employees we share it with. It shows where you are, explains what you do and about the role you are trying to fill. If you can provide images of the place, people, work spaces, vehicles, staff accommodation etc etc then it will give a very clear idea of what it will look and feel like. We can edit and update information at any time. This is a very effective time saver, and helps to set expectations from the beginning.
2ND AND 3RD JOB WORKERS
Many come back and are available for 2nd and 3rd jobs. These can be contacted via the website. Returning workers crop up regularly and the website is updated with their information as soon as it reaches us. They are normally picked up pretty fast by employers.
We continue to support and advise them though their time here.
